OSBA LETTER TO TRANSPORTATION MINISTER ON HAND-HELD DEVICES Te Ontario School Bus Association
recently wrote a letter to Transportation Minister Jim Bradley to express concerns about Ontario Regulation 366/09 (Display Screens and Hand-Held Devices) as it ap- plies to school bus drivers. In the letter, OSBA writes, “Our industry was surprised and very disappointed to see that the gov- ernment chose not to exempt school bus drivers from the ban on hand-held micro- phones used with two-way radios.” OSBA also wrote that it welcomed
the opportunity to meet with Minister Bradley’s staff to discuss the possibility of including school bus drivers in the ex- emptions provided in section 12 of the regulation, which would “ensure that the school bus remains the safest vehicle on Ontario’s roadways.” n
