Knauf’s Warm Wall Plus external wall insulation system (EWI) has made a major contribution to both the thermal performance and visual appeal of the most environmentally advanced building to date at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich. The building’s external walls are a combination of energy- efficient glazing and Knauf’s high-performance system with contrasting bright white and eye-catching pink render finishes. Some 32 percent of the external walls feature the Warm Wall Plus system, contributing to an overall ‘U’ value of just 0.1 W/m2K. The system was specified by Kier following successful use of the company’s products on previous buildings at UEA.
