Other Chapultepec La Silla offspring are paired with notable riders, such as Rodrigo

Pessoa riding G&C Farms’ G and C Fredo LS (Chapultepec La Silla x Quidam de Revel), a 2007 gelding. For G&C Farms, Rodrigo also competes G and C Kay LS (Quintero La Silla x Carry), a 2007 mare, in seven-year-old jumper classes. Two other La Silla stallions are in France. Chairman LS (Chapultepec La Silla x Capitol

I), is with rider Guillaume Hennequin, and Olmeca LS (Chapultepec La Silla x Lys de Dar- men) is with Delphine Perez. Beezie Madden shows Breitling LS (Quintero La Silla x Acord II). He is a 2006 KWPN stallion, who won the 2013 Young Horse Final in Valkenswaard. Ruisenor LS (Risueño la Silla x Capitol I), known as Crimea River, competed in both jumper and equitation classes in 2014 with several different riders, including McLain Ward. At HITS Thermal 2014, there were La Silla horses competing in every level in the five

jumper rings. One was Santa Catarina LS (Santo Domingo x Cor de la Bryere), a 2001 mare who competed in Europe in 2012. Her dam Calipa Z foaled 17 offspring for La Silla. Calipa’s dam was the legendary Ratina Z, who competed in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games along with the 1994 World Equestrian Games. Santa Catarina LS and Toluca LS are both ranked on the USEF Amateur Owner Jumper list. This year, Chela LS and Ashlee and their winning partnership

took the top prize, both overall and in terms of promoting La Silla horses. The red mare and California girl just “click” on course and their partnership certainly promotes the quality of these sport horses bred in Mexico.

OLYMPIC-LEVEL CONTENDERS La Silla jumpers have been frequent competitors

in recent Olympic Games and World Championships. They have represented the nations of Mexico, Swe- den, Colombia and Brazil. Olympic horses include Tláloc La Silla, HH Rebozo

(ridden by Rodrigo), Sancha La Silla, Casall La Silla (Caretino x Lavall I), and Rosalia La Silla (Cassini I x Contender). The last four were at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. For many years, Sweden’s Rolf-Gören Bengtsson

competed La Silla horses. He rode Casall La Silla, and also Ninja la Silla (Guidam x Lys de Darmen). On the latter, Rolf-Goren rode in the 2006 and 2010 World Equestrian Games, and the pair won the individual silver medal in the 2008 Olympic Games. La Silla horses have, of course, represented Mexi-

co in several Olympics. Alberto Michán rode Rosalia La Silla at the London games. The 2000 Mexican team for Sydney included three: Tláloc La Silla with Santiago Lambre, Nuevo Leon La Silla with Gerardo Tazzer and Alfonso Romo himself on Montemore- los La Silla. In the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Risueño La Silla (Orensano xx x Piensa Mal xx) was the leading horse on the Mexican team.
