Bjarke Ingels Group, Denmark gave a passionate speech about ‘Hedonistic Sustainability’, highlighting his creative and beautiful, sustainable architecture that has captured attention around the world. For example, take his waste management plant/ ski slope for inspiration!


Anna Bjurstam, Vice President of Spas & Wellness, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas and Owner, Raison d’Etre, Sweden presented a video interview with Dr. Oz on the future of wellness in which he encouraged us all to take our own personal wellness seriously and make time for our health every day.


Day three We commenced the final day with some visual healing courtesy of Louie Schwartzberg, Founder of Moving Art, U.S. followed by Brain Science and the Impact on Leadership, Beauty and Spas by Dr. Daniel Friedland, Founder of SuperSmartHealth, U.S. Dr. Friedland shared with us his insights into how stress and self-doubt lead to reactivity/ fight & flight and low performance leadership while inspiration and creativity lead to fulfillment and high performance leadership. This results in actively engaged employees who increase profitability, produce more, serve customers better, have less absenteeism and lower turnover. Great for any business!

The summit was closed out with a champagne toast and the exciting announcement that the 9th Global Spa & Wellness Summit will be held in Mexico City in 2015. Miguel Torruco Marqués,

Tourism presented us with some of the highlights we can expect to see when we meet again for the summit next year. Just a short trip for me from Playa del Carmen, and very exciting news for the spa and wellness industry all around this beautiful country of Mexico!
