A family-owned company, celebrates 25 years in the business By Brenlee Coates
A
quarter of a century is a long time and an achievement to be proud of for a small family business.
Joe and Irene Belo, and now son Jason,
of Green Valley Landscaping Inc., are cele- brating 25 years of fulfilling the mantra “no job is too small”, a refreshing approach in the landscape business in a day when it’s tough to get a company to take on the smaller projects. The Belos have built a reputation of offering the same care and quality to the smaller landscape jobs as they would provide to a larger ones. “We always strive to deliver the best,”
says Irene Belo. “We never walk away from a job without leaving the client happy with what we’ve done.” Green Valley’s work has won Alterna-
tive Garden awards in Etobicoke, and has earned a number of Great Gardens Award nominations and Curb Appeal recogni- tions in Vaughan and Thornhill. Green Valley’s website is peppered with
testimonials that attest to the fact that the family-owned and operated business cares about its client needs and does an exemplary, professional job of maintain- ing a yard and/or designing and building a landscape. “A lot of our business started basically
from word-of-mouth,” Irene explains. “Referrals are huge in our business. You don’t have to resell yourself to those busi- nesses.” An active member of
the Landscape
Ontario Horticultural Trades Association and a WSIB-sanctioned company, the Belos strive to deliver landscape designs and installations that will stand up to the rigours of the Ontario climate. Qual- ity is of prime importance to the family

and they invest heavily into training their crews, insisting on getting the job done right and on time. Based in Toronto, the company not residential properties but

does work for high-rise apartments, and commercial and industrial properties in the Greater Toronto, Etobicoke, Missis- sauga and Thornhill areas. They install ponds, waterfalls, or any other water feature and will incorporate landscape lighting. Their services include property maintenance, four-season urn and planter arrangements and, in winter, snow plow- ing and salting services. Joe, who runs the landscaping side of
the business, and Irene, who takes care of the administrative end and planter arrangements, are proud to have passed their passion for landscaping on to their son Jason, who heads the maintenance division. “It’s very exciting to see where we came from and where we’re at today,” says Irene. Of her son, she remarks, “It’s become his future, and he also has aspira- tions to grow the company.” Congratulations to all three Belos on
this milestone year. We salute Green Valley Landscaping, Inc. and its owners for their integrity and performance and wish them growth and prosperity for another 25 years in the business. h
