Rebuild for Leipa Georg Leinfelder’s deinking plant at Schwedt
L
eipa Georg Leinfelder has ordered components from Andritz for the rebuild
of the screening system in the DIP1 deinking plant at its Schwedt mill in Germany. The rebuild, scheduled for completion in October 2014, is intended to achieve significant
energy savings and also to further reduce losses in the screening plant. The job includes the
complete rebuild of the coarse screening plant, including a new tail screen and delivery of a new first stage for slot screening. Andritz says that a particular challenge in this
rebuild project is the short shutdown time of only 72 hours for switching over to the new components and restarting the plant.
The pulp produced by Leipa
Georg Leinfelder will be used to make the top layer for white coated liner and for magazine paper grades.
South Korean mill to start four- ply containerboard production
Dong Il Paper Manufacturing Co Ltd successfully started up a containerboard machine at its Wolsan mill in South Korea after a wet end rebuild completed earlier this year by Valmet. The rebuild covered the key
components of the wet end: a new two-layer headbox and vacuum assisted forming board for middle ply. It increased the end product quality and enables
the mill to produce four-ply containerboard. Privately-owned Dong Il Paper
was founded in 1986 and has four paper mills in South Korea ar Ansan, Wolsan, Uiryeong and Dongwon, which produce various containerboard grades such as liner, test liner and corrugated medium. Jin Doo Kim, vice president of Dong Il Paper, commented: “Valmet’s new OptiFlo headbox
with Aqua layering technology opens us to new possibilities to develop our process and product. We have already seen the potential of the technology on how strength properties can be improved. Unlike with conventional technologies, a rapid starch feeding response can be measured when starch is fed through Aqua layer; in both cases 15 percent compression strength

It is a safe, reliable and highly efficient technology for
(RCT) improvement is achieved, but the amount of starch needed is almost 30 percent lower with Aqua technology. Even in chemically challenging process conditions, the technology enables great results.” Hannu Pietilä, president for the Asia Pacific region at Valmet, added: “Dong Il Paper Group is a forerunner in adopting new technologies, and they have been actively involved in developing new solutions for the paper industry with us. We are delighted to see Dong Il Paper realize the benefits of the new Aqua layering technology as the first in the industry.”
production of high quality tissue.” Valmet will be supplying a
complete tissue production line featuring stock preparation systems and the Advantage tissue machine that will be equipped with OptiFlo headbox, Advantage ViscoNip press and Yankee cylinder with Advantage AirCap hood.
The tissue machine will have a width of 5.6m and a design speed of 2,200 m/min. The new line will use virgin fibre to produce high- quality facial, napkin, toilet and towel grades for consumer and commercial use.
