Day ONE
Your fi rst stop is at the DuPage County Historical Museum (Wheaton) to learn about our county’s rich history from the 1830s to the present through exhibits that feature hundreds of historic artifacts and photos along with many fun hands-on activities.
Plan to spend the rest of your day at Cantigny Park (Wheaton). This 500-acre park features the Robert R. McCormick Museum housed in a historic mansion built in 1896, the First Division Museum with tanks, cannons and other historic equipment located on the grounds, more than 29 acres of formal gardens, picnic grounds, and a top-ranked public golf course.
Wheaton is also home to the Billy Graham Center Museum at Wheaton College which is devoted to the history of Christian evangelism and infl uence on society.
Treat the family to dinner at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse (Lombard), with its veritable museum of Chicago baseball history.
Day TWO
Spend a few hours at Fischer Farm (Bensenville). Established around 1838, it is believed to be one of the oldest remaining homesteads in DuPage County. The farm sits on fi ve acres of land and features a section of unchanged landscape that settlers looked upon when they arrived in the area. Programs and events are offered that promote awareness of the historical and ecological signifi cance of the site.
Plan to spend a few hours at Naper Settlement (Naperville), an outdoor living history museum where history comes to life at this 12-acre museum village with 30 historic structures, including a Victorian mansion, fort, chapel, one-room schoolhouse and working blacksmith and print shops.
