MESSAGE FROM THE CEO Make the Most of ASCA’s Educational Opportunities

T

his issue of ASC Focus magazine will be in readers’ hands for the first time at ASCA 2014, ASCA’s annual meeting in Nashville, May 14–17. Copies will reach

all of ASCA’s members by mail a few days later. ASC Focus and ASCA’s annual meetings have a lot in common. Both provide critical updates on every aspect of ASC operations and management. Both also connect you with many of the most respected experts in the ASC community to help you determine what you need to do to protect and grow your ASC and how to achieve your goals. At ASCA 2014, for example, Caren Ginsberg from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will talk about ways that ASCs can prepare for Medicare’s new patient experience of care surveys. CMS has made it clear that ASCs will be expected to conduct these new patient surveys soon, and as Ginsberg’s session title suggests, “We’re Not Just Talking about Patient Satisfaction Anymore.” Ginsberg is uniquely qualified to walk you through the steps you need to take to meet the new requirements. ASCA 2014 will also include a series of presentations about surgical procedures that are moving into the ASC setting for the first time. If you are looking at new ways of bringing more patients, surgeons and cases into your ASC, these sessions are a can’t-miss opportunity. All are presented by surgeons with firsthand experience and successful track records in bringing these procedures into ASCs. If you miss these sessions or any others at ASCA 2014, you can buy recordings of most through our online store at www.ascassociation.org/OnlineStore. This issue of ASC Focus magazine delivers some of the same kind of up-to-the-
