welcoming. “People have gone out of their way


to make us feel welcome and to help us. When we first arrived, everyone was very patient with the language, even when I struggled with the different accents. I think people have a lot of pride in Scotland and want to give foreigners a good experience of the country.”


When the allure of home proves too much, Spain and family are only a short step away. For Geni, living away from her home in central Spain was difficult at first, so Scotland’s air links with Europe have been a bonus. Travelling from the country’s two major airports in Glasgow and Edinburgh, she can be at her family home, enjoying good weather, in just four hours.” Borja is upbeat about the future,

so vibrant,” Borja confirmed. “The North Sea keeps going strong, but the country has also become an international hub for expertise. My experience has certainly been that the job opportunities keep increasing; it’s hard to cover all of that with local talent, so there’s a great opportunity for the right people.”
