hello cargo 2014 IS NO YEAR TO STAND STILL

If one thing is certain about 2014 it is that there is no place for companies that stand still and ignore the changes happening in the air cargo market.

We certainly welcome the small but positive signs of a global economic upturn but there is no doubt that all of us in business today need to be smarter and more innovative in the services we offer to gain customer support.

In this issue of Car go Supermark et, we

are honoured to share the thoughts of five highly experienced and respected air charter professionals on how they see the outlook for the market in 2014. They, like us, are generally optimistic about the year ahead and the longer-term prospects for the air cargo charter sector but we know that we must use all of our skills and expertise to safeguard our business. I am sure you will find the thoughts of our colleagues from Air Charter Service, the Baltic Air Charter Association, Chapman Freeborn, Panalpina and Ruslan International extremely interesting and we certainly hope to continue to feature the thoughts of Volga-Dnepr Group customers and partners in future issues of our magazine.

Special thanks to Russi Batliwala, CEO of Chapman Freeborn Airchartering, who took the time to answer our questions during the midst of his 50th birthday celebrations! Happy birthday Russi from

your friends at Volga-Dnepr and thank you for your support!

The oil and gas sector continues to be a prime market for us and since the last issue we have successfully completed our 1,100th cargo flight for customers in this industry. With new projects starting around the world, we are confident of playing an important role in these developments. As part of efforts to showcase our capability to the industry, members of the Volga-Dnepr commercial team were in Perth earlier this month for the Australasian Oil & Gas (AOG) conference and exhibition and, in March, we will be in Korea for Gastech 2014. Taking part in such events gives us a great insight into the exciting new developments taking place in the oil and gas market and provides an outstanding networking opportunity.

In Korea we will be hosting a special workshop for companies in the oil and gas industry that are preparing for, or involved in, a large, complex or remote oil and gas construction project. If you are attending Gastech, I hope you will find time to join us to learn more about the work we do and the support we can offer.

This month you will also read about the arrival of AirBridgeCargo’s fifth Boeing 747-8F, which completes the airline’s fleet

g g 747-8F, which complet g

investment and renewal programme. This latest upgrading of our scheduled cargo fleet comes as ABC reports a 5% increase in tonnage carried during 2013.

Finally, many congratulations to our friends in Sochi for hosting such an exciting and successful 2014 Winter Olympic Games during February. We are extremely proud to have supported the preparations for the Sochi Games over the last seven years.

DENNIS GLIZNOUTSA Vice President, Development
