Celebrate the arrival of a new family member with a Naming Ceremony


Bath and North East Somerset Council are now offering Civil Naming Ceremonies. These are a special, non religious, way of celebrating a birth and welcoming a child into a family.

The ceremony can be held at The Guildhall or at other venues approved by the council. A list of all these Approved Premises is available from The Guildhall or on the website www.bathnes.gov.uk. Ceremonies can also be held in private homes or other venues.


Naming ceremonies can be arranged for children of all ages and can be used to celebrate adoptive or step children into a family and to announce the new relationship.


You will have the opportunity to discuss the content of your ceremony and include readings, poems and other personal details so that you can create something that is unique for you. A special commemorative certificate can be presented at the end of the ceremony.
