[EDITOR’S NOTE] Upcoming Events 2014

In many of the conversations and interviews we’ve lead here at Wire Rope Exchange, we have found most successful businesses attest their achievements are refl ected in good communication and strong relationships. Businesses who have a long history owe much of the

credit to the people in and around their business. Growth, while sometimes an arduous process, stems from listening to customers, as well as employees, to keep a pulse on industry needs and opportunities. But the key is to actively engage

with others, which is increasingly a diffi cult task in the Internet era. One of the best occasions to develop and continue a relationship is at trade shows.

T is past month, trade shows abounded and I had the opportunity to attend the National Industrial Fastener Show in Las Vegas, NV. T e show had a tremendous turnout with close to 800 exhibiting companies. It was a great chance to catch up with colleagues, and we enjoyed saying hello to our friends at US Rigging & Supply, Ken Forging, Chicago Hardware & Fixture, Safeland Industrial Supply, and J.W. Winco to name a few. With the great advantages we have with technology and the capability to communicate at all hours of the day, nothing can be said for the benefi t of simply shaking someone’s hand and talking with them face-to-face. T is issue, we feature companies who have thrived upon strong relationships and good communication. Tandemloc, a family-based operation on the North Carolina coast, has a rich legacy built on safety, quality and customer satisfaction. Equally important, they exhibit a company built on eff ective communication, as family and colleagues work together hand-in-hand in support of similar goals. We also learn about the humble beginnings of B/A Products, a family that fi gured out early on that communication eff ectively means support. T ey showcase a record of growth not through mergers and acquisitions, but organic growth built on talking to more people, in more places. Enjoy the Holiday Season with family and friends. It’s a great time to polish our communication skills! T ank you for being a part of the Exchange, and please stay in touch and let us know how your business is growing.
