Don’s Digressions: Our Executive Director’s Column

• Mark your calendars now!!! MELNA’s 2013 Annual Meeting and Trade Show will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Augusta Civic Center. Tere is an article in this newsletter outlining the participants and a tentative schedule also appears. Last year’s Trade Show was a great success with a 50% increase in exhibitors and the largest attendance in the last decade. Both exhibition fees and registration fees for attendees will be held at the same levels as last year!

• Speaking of registration fees, your 2013 Annual Meeting & Trade Show Registration Packet should have arrived within the past week or two. Registrations must be received in the MELNA Office by January 18th in order to be guaranteed a meal.

• On the evening before the AnnualMeeting there will be an Informal Keynote & Exhibitor Reception at the Augusta Civic Center from 6-8 PM. Come have a nice relaxing evening and rub shoulders with our keynote speaker, Dr. Allan Armitage, as well as a number of our trade Show exhibitors and your MELNA friends. Finger foods will be served. Tis is a separate admission event with a ticket price of $20 per person.

• MELNA is always looking for more volunteers. If you want to check out the organization and opportunities to help more thoroughly, you are welcome at a joint meeting of ALL MELNA committees at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22 at the Augusta Civic Center. We will be done in time for the Informal Keynote & Exhibitor Reception at 6 p.m.

• Volunteers are needed on both Tuesday, January 22 and Wednesday January 23. Help is needed greeting and assisting exhibitors with set-up on Tuesday, starting at 2:30 p.m. Help is also needed at the Registration Table and Book Sales Table on Wednesday, during the show. We are in particular need of help from 11 a.m. until Noon, during the Annual Membership Meeting — if you are willing to help out, contact the MELNA Office.
