launched the fi rst of two new Akilaria RC3 Class40s.
The Class 40 is a box rule, water bal-
lasted, fi xed keel, twin rudder, hard chine offshore racing boat. The fl eet has grown well beyond 100 strong, with the majority of the fl eet residing in Europe.
Since 2007, MYC has been collabo- rating with French designer Marc Lombard andTunisian builder, MC-Tec to import parts for completion at the Portland yard. To date, MYC has imported, completed and sold previous Akilaria versions, RC1 and RC2s. Using all the experience and knowl- edge gained from the highly successful Akilaria RC1 and RC2 versions, we are ex- tremely proud to introduce the new Akilaria RC3 version. The RC3 is a completely new design that utilizes and builds upon all the empirical data from previous RC1 and RC2 generation boats. New tooling was built for all components as well as new appendage design, mast design and interior layout. The RC3 is now built to the minimum Class 40 weight of 4,500 kg in a Category O confi g- uration. The RC3 incorporates all the latest design features of Generation 3 Class 40s, such as an articulating bow sprit to achieve deeper downwind sailing angles. The objec- tive is to produce a boat that is optimized as closely as possible to the current limits of the Class 40 rule and to be competitive across a wide range of sailing conditions and race

Sabre Yachts of Raymond has an- nounced the newly redesigned Sabre 54 Salon Express. Kevin Burns, VP of Design and Product Development says, “The 54 represents the most sophisticated build to date for the Sabre yard in terms of the incredible interior de- tails, state-of-the-art systems arrangements, and overall experience of ownership. It will establish a new high water mark for our entire team.”
When designing the 54, Kevin Burn’s top priority was to create an open, airy feel throughout the social areas - the main salon and cockpit.
This was achieved by having only one small step between the cockpit and main sa- lon as well as having double acting stainless steel companionway doors and unobstructed views throughout the main salon. In the spa- cious cockpit of the 54, a SureShade retract- able awning is a standard feature. Also worth noting: the Sabre 54 will be one of the fi rst production boats to be fi tted with the Volvo IPS 950 propulsion system. We anticipate a cruise speed in the high 20s and a top end speed over 30 knots.

At Portland Yacht Services there is a catamaran sitting outside that is being worked on by the owner and Greene Ma- rine of Yarmouth after she suffered damage in a grounding. They ground down the fi ber- glass and re-glassed the damaged areas and in early September she was nearly ready to be launched. They also redid the wiring and electronics.
