CLASS NOTES 1948


Barbara Carver Fagan is a retired educator after serving as a Principal in the Fulton County School System. She is living in Newnan, GA.


1950


Helen McCrary Coleman is a retired teacher of Exceptional Education with the State of Tennessee. She received additional degrees from East Carolina, Tennessee Tech and the University of Tennessee. She enjoys volunteering with Alzheimer’s patients.


Donald B. Frederick and his wife Laura celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on December 17th, 2011.


1951


Ruel Lester Bradley retired after 36 years with FHM Insurance Company after having worked in the positions of Director, Treasurer and Asset Manager. He also managed Ocean’s Eleven Resorts in Daytona and was awarded “Florida Hotelier of the Year” in 1980.


1952 18


Geneva Johnson Sparling retired after working 22 years as an educator in the roles of Teacher Assistant, Teacher, Principal and school board member, and is now a greeter at Wal-Mart.


1953


Charles C. Whitaker retired from Pet Milk Company and enjoys raising cows, goats and guineas in Bostwick, GA.


1956


Leslie Frazier Moore retired from teaching and now is a program manager for National Business Institute which holds continuing education courses for attorneys, CPAs, CFPs and insurance professionals.


1964


Margaret Rogers retired from her job working for the the State of Alabama. She has one daughter.


1968


James Henry Norton works as an Insurance Agent in Florida with his own company, Norco Holdings, and has six children and nine grandchildren.


1970


Dewey William Moyer is Superintendent of the Lumpkin County School System, which was recently recognized as the first in GA to train staff in child sexual abuse prevention and recognition. Also, their JROTC program is ranked in the Top 500 by the Department of the Army.


1971


Jane Scott Finney was honored in February 2012 with recognition as being one of Germantown, Tennessee’s finest teachers.


1975


Nancy Ann Crum Hicks recently retired after 28 years of teaching.


1978


Morris Lamar Arrington retired as principal in 2008 with 29 years of service in the state of GA.


1980


Terry Elizabeth Lewis Collins works in Spalding County as an Elections Supervisor.


Anne Louise Averill Ammons is married to Brian and has three children, Tim, Melissa, and Patrick. She works part time as an RN and Brian has his own real estate appraisal company in Florida.


1982


Ann Westbrook recently retired from nursing and is enjoying her first grandchild, Charlie.


1983


Gordon Daniel MacQuirter is president of the Kappa Sigma (GSW) alumni chapter and resides in Thomasville, GA.
