The F

aircrack Summer Workshop –

er

Important For Every Fair In Florida! This year‘s Federation Summer Workshop will be held August 2nd & 3rd in Jack-

sonville, FL. The event will be hosted by the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair. This two day event will be one that EVERY FAIR in Florida should plan to attend.

There will be two workshop tracks that will provide pertinent information for every Fair Board member, staff member, or volunteer in Florida. The two tracks will cover: Consumer Protection Program (E. coli) and The Disaster Experience. The Summer Workshop will begin on Friday at 1:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza in Jacksonville.

JULY 2013

After hearing an overview, the group will divide into the two separate tracks for an afternoon of informative sessions. Dinner on Friday night will be sponsored by the Greater Jacksonville Ag Fair and will be held at the Fairgrounds – a short distance from the hotel. This year‘s Workshops are being sponsored by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Con-

sumer Services under the auspices of Commissioner Adam Putnam. The Consumer Protection Program (E.coli) Workshop will educate our attendees on contami-

nation from E.Coli and other enteric pathogens which continue to pose a tremendous risk to all Fairs when Fair guests interact with animals in livestock barns, petting zoos, birthing centers, etc. In this workshop you‘ll learn more about the pathogen, discover operational and manage- ment options any size Fair can implement, and meet one-on-one with workshop facilitators to review programs you have in place at your facility. ―E.coli Outbreak Sickens Children after Fair Visit‖ – don‘t let this be the headline at your Fair. The Disaster Experience Workshop will put you in the throes of real-life disaster situations – as

they unfold. Attendees will make critical decisions and deal with the consequences of those deci- sions! After you‘ve finished, you‘ll understand the importance of advance disaster and event con- tinuity planning. Chances are that while you read this, an unexpected disaster is causing a Fair management team stress and confusion and is affecting its ability to produce an event. Are you prepared to handle it? Disasters of every shape, size, look and feel happen all the time, affecting businesses, people‘s jobs, lives and families. You‘ll never want to be caught unprepared again! So Plan now to attend – you can register now on the Federation website www.floridafairs.org
