Also planned for this year is a preview of the auction
horses followed by a variety of lectures on germane topics. They include nutrition for the equine athlete, pilates for riders, proper saddle fitting and its importance with the equine athlete and integrative medicine for the sport horse. “We wanted to make this an event that had something for everyone.” Ellie explains. The main feature of the weekend is, of course, the
auction itself. Guests will enjoy the show with a glass of champagne while the horses to be auctioned—those under saddle, youngsters and foals—are presented. Last year›s line-up featured some of today’s most popular bloodlines, including those of Sir Donnerhall, Diamond Hit, Hotline and Don Frederico. Breeds represented in the auction included Hanoverian, Dutch Warmblood, Oldenburg, Trakehner, Holsteiner and even the German Riding Pony. The top bid of the day was $57,000 for a three- year-old Sir Donnerhall gelding imported especially for the auction. The average hammer price was $27,150. The PSS management team is enthusiastic about the
2013 auction weekend. “We are so happy to be bringing such a worthy event to our community.” Ellie remarks. “The whole purpose of the auction is to bring buyers and sellers of top quality horses together. We are also using the PSS to give back to the community in the form of education, entertainment and charitable donations. I am so proud to be a part of it!”
