[WHAT’S NEW] WHAT’S NEW COLUMBUS MCKINNON ENHANCES HOIST PRODUCT LINE
Columbus McKinnon Corporation, a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of material handling products is proud to present the CM Series 653 ratchet lever hoist with a new shorter handle design.
As part of our commitment to bring best-in-class products to market, we are continuously looking to improve existing products. One such improvement is the new shorter handle design on our popular Series 653. This modest modifi cation makes a world of diff erence. Ideal for confi ned work areas, the Series 653 3/4 and 1-1/2 ton capacity models are now some of the most nimble and easiest to operate hoists on the market today.
This change makes the Series 653 even more compact, allowing the operator to take full advantage of the 360° rotating handle with less worry of obstructions. The shorter handle also reduces the overall weight of the hoist, making it even easier to carry and operate. The Series 653 off ers more corrosion resistant parts than the competition, and features a simple one-handed free chaining mechanism.
In addition, Columbus McKinnon presents the CM AirStar Chain Hoist with new enhancements that give this popular hoist best-in-class performance even for the most demanding applications.
The CM AirStar chain hoist now boasts a longer service life and superior air leak protection due to new upgrades to the control manifold and air seals. Available in 1⁄4 to 1 ton capacities, the CM AirStar off ers faster lifting speeds and lower operating costs with lower air consumption than its competitors.
For years, the CM Airstar has always been a reliable and rugged air hoist for applications requiring variable speed control. These new design enhancements will continue that legacy of meeting the high demands of industries like automotive manufacturing.
The CM Series 653 and CM AirStar Chain Hoist are available through the Columbus McKinnon network of distributors. To learn more about the products and services off ered and to fi nd a list of distributors, please contact customer service at 1-800-888-0985 or go to

WHAT’S NEW TEUFELBERGER UPGRADES EVOLUTION TK 16 HIGH PERFORMANCE ROPE
Endeavoring to meet and exceed the variety of requirements crane ropes endure, Teufelberger, the specialist rope maker headquartered in Wels, Austria, never ceases to develop and upgrade its range of high performance ropes. The latest coup: the relaunch of its long-proven EVOLUTION TK16 high performance rope. The key plus factor of this rope upgrade, whose name aptly includes the suffi x “plus”, is its increased breaking strength with up to plus 7%.
WHAT’S NEW VAN BEEST INTRODUCES STAINLESS STEEL SHACKLES WITH SAFETY BOLTS
Van Beest has recently added two types of shackles to the stainless steel program: Stainless steel bow and dee shackles with safety bolts. The use of stainless steel products is recommended in circumstances where corrosion can cause problems. Van Beest off ers a wide range of stainless steel items such as shackles, thimbles, wire rope clips, eye bolts, rigging screws, etc. The stainless steel chain fi ttings from our EXCEL® program complete the range.
In addition, Van Beest expands the range of Green Pin® ROV Release shackles with the introduction of three smaller sizes: WLL 6.5, 9.5 and 12 t. These shackles are designed for under water use in harsh conditions. The unique design, developed in close cooperation with the end users of this type of products, makes them easy to manipulate by a robot. The diff erent types, now available in a range of WLL 6.5 up to 85 t, will solve nearly every ROV lifting application. ❙
Among crane manufacturers and crane operators around the globe, EVOLUTION TK16 is considered as one of the best hoisting ropes for various applications in specialist foundation engineering, but also for other fi elds of use such as on (heavy lift) vessel cranes and off shore platforms. Like all the other ropes of the non-rotating TK series, EVOLUTION TK16 is not prone to any rotation of the hook blocks, even at large lifting heights. As a result, it facilitates the accurate “positioning” of heavy loads. Thanks to its cutting-edge design developed with the support of state-of-the-art software solutions and incorporating SUPERFILL® compaction technology where every strand is compacted according to a special method, this rope provides tremendous breaking strength. In addition, by using the PLASTFILLTM process, the greased steel core of EVOLUTION TK16 is overmolded with a plastic coat. This ensures high resistance to compressive loads and lateral pressures and helps reduce wear on the rope’s core.
