ST. GEORGE’S UNIVERSITY DRAWS FUTURE LEADERS IN VETERINARY MEDICINE
This January, St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine celebrated its 28th White Coat Ceremony, continuing its tradition of drawing would-be practitioners from around the world to its progressive programmes in animal medicine.
Competitive Curriculum St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine is a dynamic centre of higher education in Grenada, West Indies. Founded in 1999, the School of Veterinary Medicine has continued to advance St. George’s reputation as a leader in global education, off ering veterinary medical students a broad range of educational and professional training opportunities. The School off ers a preveterinary medical programme and a veterinary medical programme, which includes the four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. In its 14-year history, the School of Veterinary Medicine has graduated over 700 veterinary surgeons from 24 countries who have practised in 47 US states and 10 countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and South Africa.
During the White Coat Ceremony, Hollie Schramm, DVM, a 2007 alum of St. George’s School of Veterinary Medicine, welcomed the new students and remarked on the invaluable education they were about to receive. “Study hard, be involved, and have fun,” urged Dr. Schramm. “Grenada is a place that I hold near and dear, and after attending SGU, at which you are assured to gain a top-notch education, I am
confi dent you will cherish this experience and your time on this beautiful island like I do.”
Excellence in Education a Given With 29 clinical affi liations with international veterinary schools, including two United Kingdom veterinary programmes, 23 US veterinary schools, two Canadian schools, as well as affi liations in Ireland and Australia, St. George’s University off ers its students the chance to do their 48-week clinical studies at the world’s top academic environments. It is these international partnerships and the in-the-fi eld training that allow St. George’s to eff ectively prepare its students for the world of global animal health care.
