Westbrook leads Thunder past Lakers


RussellWestbrook had 37 points and 10 rebounds, Kevin Durant scored 26 and the Oklahoma City Thunder held off a second-half charge Tuesday night to beat the improving Los Angeles Lakers, 122- 105. The Thunder led from start to finish, but had their 18-point lead whittled down to five midway through the fourth quarter. Serge Ibaka, who dodged a suspension after delivering a low blow against Blake Griffin in Oklahoma City's previous game, hit a 3-pointer and Westbrook had a two- handed slam as the Thunder scored the last 12 points. Los Angeles didn't score for the last 6:14. Kobe Bryant ended up with 30 points after leaving the game briefly with a right elbow injury in the first quarter. Steve Nash matched his season best with 20 points, but the Lakers fell back below .500 after reaching the mark for the first time since December. never played college football A former pro basketball player who never played college football has a chance to make an NFL roster. The Seattle Seahawks signed Darren Fells, who is the younger brother of New England Patriots tight end Daniel Fells, to a three-year deal, the team confirmed Tuesday. Fells, 26, played his college hoops at Cal-Irvine and recently played pro basketball for Libertad Sunchales in Argentina. Fells was supposed to have a Pro Day to showcase his skills, but the Seahawks were impressed enough to offer him a contract. According to the Everett Herald, the 6- foot-7, 280-pound Fells has played hoops overseas in Belgium, Finland, France, Mexico. Shock trade for Candice Wiggins


TULSA, Okla. -- The Tulsa Shock acquired two former All-Americans from Stanford on Friday, picking up guard Candice Wiggins from the Minnesota Lynx and forward Nicole Powell from the New York Liberty. The three-team deal also sent center Janel McCarville from New York to Minnesota in a sign-and-trade, and the Lynx received Tulsa's second- round pick in 2014. http://espn.go.com/wnba/story
