one is hard at work making those last minute preparations for opening day! Since our last Fair Cracker, we have had a very busy schedule in addition to Christmas and New Year’s. I had the great opportunity to travel to Las Vegas in November and take part in the IAFE Convention. I met so many wonderful people from across the country and had many great Fair dis-
cussions. I strongly recommend the IAFE Convention to everyone! If you have not attended please try to go later this year. Also, at the IAFE Convention our very own Lisa Hinton was named the “Executive Director of the Year” for 2012. We are all so proud of Lisa and appreciate what she does for our indus- try on a daily basis. Congratulations Lisa! In December, the Federation of Fairs Board met in beautiful Lake County

and many of you came and visited with us during that time. On February 1st, I visited the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach and had a great time seeing all of our friends and the wonderful fairgrounds that they have there. I was especially excited to see all of the presidential memorabilia that they had on display. On February 7th, I was able to attend the Governor’s Luncheon at the Florida State Fair along with Lisa Hinton, Martha Leverock and Pete Sutton. It was a great time to be at the Florida State Fair on their opening day! Many of the other Fairs from across Florida were represented on the occasion to hear from Governor Scott and other members of the Florida Cabinet. At this time, information has been sent out to all Fairs regarding the FFF
for the winter meeting to discuss plans for our upcoming convention in May. I want to thank Happy Norris and his family again for hosting the meetings and providing a great dinner for us! The ribs were out of this world! In January, we had our 97th Manatee County Fair which was a great success
Convention in May. If you have any questions or need more information please contact myself or Lisa. I hope everyone with a Fair coming up has a great run and will make lasting memories for your Fair patrons!
Fair Well! Daniel West, Federation President
