Noel Coward on stage Signed Pen, ink and watercolour, heightened with white 77 x 56.5cm; 30¼ x 22¼in This work illustrates Coward’s operette Conversation Piece of 1933/34 starring Yvonne Printemps and Coward himself, initially, but he passed his role pretty quickly to her husband the actor Pierre Fresnay. The principal theme tune was one of Coward’s best loved, I’ll Follow My Secret Heart, sung by Printemps throughout the run. Illustrated:
