GRAND TROPHY AWARD WINNER – WHITEWOOD TRANSPORT, INC. Whitewood Transport, Inc. has been the


proud recipients of this award in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. Their exemplary staff, fleet of Owner Operators, an dedicated leaders have continued to strive to become one fo the safest, most reputable heavy haul fleets in the US and Canada. Their mission is to provide their customers


with safe, affordable trucking solutions. This statement reinforces their commitment to safety, their customers and the transportation industry. Their continued participation in Share the Road, Montana Truck Driving Championship, and Truck Driver Appreciation displays their company’s desire to promote safety in the trucking industry, as well as educate the general public about the importance of trucking to our society. Whitewood’s success is confirmed by the


numerous fleet safety awards and recognition that they have received over the past 25 years from several industry associations and community organizations.

DRIVER OF THE YEAR – MICHAEL FERGUSON, CORCORAN TRUCKING, INC. Michael Ferguson started with Corcoran


Trucking, Inc. on January 17, 1984. He is referred to as “one of the good ole boys of the old time trucking.” His career started with Don Koss Trucking where he worked for eight years before spending two years with Midland Packing. He has been with Corcoran Trucking, Inc. ever since. Ferguson has many years and miles of


service. He is always willing to take the time to help a fellow driver or person without expecting anything in return. He is very well regarded in the industry and as a long-time employee of Corcoran Trucking, Inc.


SAFETY SUPERVISOR OF THE YEAR – PHIL HINSHAW, SAMMONS TRUCKING, INC. Phil has been the Director of Safety at


Sammons Trucking for six years. Phil is part of the management team and


meets weekly with the other six members of this team to oversee and direct the course of Sammons. He is on the Board of Directors for Motor Carriers of Montana and is active in their programs. He has assisted in setting

up the courses for the Montana Truck Driving Championships program for the past 4 years Phil was the guest speaker on CSA Panel at TIDA Symposium .He’s also been an instructor for a SafetyFest program, where the topic was Fleet Safety Using CSA to measure fleet safety and how the FMCSA uses it to identify at risk carriers. A strong ongoing program at Sammons


Trucking in 2011 was the focus on lowering CSA points in all the major BASICS. To accomplish this goal they implemented a clean inspection campaign with successful level 1 inspections netting $100 to the successful operators. Level 2 inspections net $75 and level 3 receive $50. This has been a very successful program in reducing total points per inspection. Phil Hinshaw is married to Donna. To


which they have 4 children, Aaron, Corey, and twins Eric & Scott. Phil is active in helping his three youngest sons in their pursuit of a college education at the University of Montana in Missoula.
