TAKE YOUR WII TO WEEE?

What did you get for Christmas? A new phone? A new laptop? What are you going to do with all the old

electricals cluttering up the place? You have two choices as we see it; get a little Worzel Gummidge and hoard them, consider not cutting your toenails for a few months and keep your your waste toilet paper in a bag, or perhaps the more palatable choice – give them to the council. Norfolk County Council are urging you to “Bring them, don't bin them!” Be in with the chance of winning £100 vouchers of your choice when you bring your Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) to your local Recycling Centre. You can recycle any broken or unwanted household items, big or small, which need a plug or battery to work. Te WEEE centres accept all unwanted or broken household electrical and electronic items (even if they have batteries!). For more information and for terms and conditions visit www.norfolk.gov.uk/WEEE

MIGUEL

He has been lauded, along with the sensational Frank Ocean, as one of the main figures in reviving R&B in 2012, and giving it some much deserved credibility again. For too long, the genre was sullied with the reputation of being sleazy, superficial and formulaic, but with Miguel you get a poster boy that brings the same art to the genre as Prince has always done – a name often bandied around when comparing Miguel to his influencers.

Tis January sees Miguel bring his live show to the UK after having toured the US, his home country, extensively and to massive acclaim. He’s played Madison Square Garden in the States, and is packing the venues across the pond too, with his largest London show to date at Te Forum already having been a sell out. As well as announcing a second date in the capital at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Saturday 12th January, we’re very lucky that he will also take in Norwich as part of a few UK dates, as he hits Te Waterfront on January 19th. Tis really is a rare opportunity to see R&Bs hottest new act in intimate settings across the UK.

25 YEARS AS IAN’S ANGEL

It may not draw in quite so much attention as the Queen’s Jubilee did last year, but 2013 has an anniversary well worth celebrating as well. It has

been 25 years since Ian Warren took on the freehold at the Angel Gardens, on Angel Road, just on to the north of the city. He has been touted as the longest running landlord in the city, and he has maintained stablility in the local, which Ian puts down to their success. He explains that there are other pubs that have a succession of new management all the time, but when people walk into the Angel, they know they’re going to see a familiar face. Tat stability has seen the pub outlive the downfall that other pubs have faced, and Ian says when they stop to think about it, as they sometimes do, they see around a pub and a bit close every year. It’s a far cry from the thriving pub scene Ian entered in 1988. He says he did have his naysayers though; after sorting the kitchen out and putting on a food menu, a guy who often came into the pub – and still does – said, “I wish you luck with that m’boy – food’ll never take off in here!” But Ian can safely say he’s proved them wrong after 25 years. To celebrate, annual Angel performer, Terry Adams will be playing along with some old Angel favourites to keep the music seamless. When we asked him whether he’d make another 25 years like the Queen, he admitted, “I might be a bit doddery by then!’ From all of us at Outline, happy 25 years Ian! Here’s to many more.

Miguel’s latest album Kaleidoscope Dreamhas taken the world by storm following its release this year. Debuting at No. 3 in the Billboard 200, the record has received much praise from critics and fans alike, with almost a quarter of million sales already amounted. Te second album for this extremely talented and dedicated artist saw Miguel take a more creative lead as principal writer and producer on the project, which has clearly paid off with its popularity to date. Miguel also shone at the 2012 Soul Train Awards this year, winning “Best R&B/Soul Male Artist”.

Miguel’s sound is undeniably original and electric; an assault of the senses beginning with his rich soulful and sweet vocal, combined with a fusion of electro-tinged R&B that has a hip-hop edge and all the balls of rock.

You could be part of this sensational evening by

winning a pair of tickets to see the man in action, along with a copy of his latest album. All you have to do is
