Fawkes Trot

IN CELEBRATION of Bonfire Night, the Nidd Valley Road Runners will be hosting the annual Up & Running Guy Fawkes 10 race on 4 November in Ripley, Yorkshire. The 10-mile event has proved popular, selling out in recent years despite its notoriously undulating course. One runner commented: “Hilly, yes, but I managed to run up them all. Although I did swear out loud when I saw the last one, ‘for Fawkes sake!’”

The race starts at 10:30am in Ripley, three miles north of Harrogate, within striking distance of the A1. The route takes you through quiet country roads, picturesque hamlets and a short stretch through woods, before finishing in the 15th century Ripley Castle Courtyard. Manchester Welcomes MoRunning

MANCHESTER WILL be bristling with hundreds of runners brandishing their most impressive facial hair when the city welcomes its first MoRun. Scheduled for Saturday 24 November at Heaton Park, MoRunners are being invited to take part in either a 5k or 10k race.

Staged as part of the Movember charity campaign that raises awareness of men’s health throughout the course of a month, Manchester is one of seven locations hosting events. Following its inception in 2004 in Australia, Movember fundraising hit the UK in 2007, with the inaugural MoRun taking place two years later in Greenwich Park. For more information and to register for the event, visit the MoRunning website.
