Born in London in 1909, Jessica Tandy made her debut on the London stage when she was 18 years old. Later she appeared with such luminaries as John Gielgud and Laurence Olivier before moving to New York in 1940. In a glittering career that included starring roles on Broadway and in Hollywood she became the oldest actress to receive the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Driving Miss Daisy, for which she also won a BAFTA and a Golden Globe.
