Colorado Amateur Hockey Association
Exciting new season in store for CAHA members
By Randy Kanai W
hat is the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA)? It’s the state’s USA Hockey affiliate that es-
tablishes and enforces policies and procedures at the youth and amateur levels. Through USA Hockey, CAHA provides training, certification
and background checks for administrators, coaches, referees and managers who are in contact with players. All of these efforts serve to help ensure every player experiences the game of hockey in a safe, positive environment while developing both as an athlete and a person. This season, members of CAHA elected to move forward with the institution of
the American Development Model (ADM). Through USA Hockey in partnership with the NHL, the ADM provides age-appropriate guidelines and curriculum to hockey associations to help get more kids playing, loving and excelling at hockey. Your home association is working towards implementing the ADM, and we en- courage you to support and partici pate in those efforts. Also, to help provide more information to our members, we’re organizing a
monthly electronic newsletter this season in which you’ll receive an update from a CAHA representative about what’s going on around the state. The newsletter will also include a dryland exercise that will be presented by a
player skating for one of the three pro teams here in Colorado; the idea is to promote the off-ice development of our players. We’ll also include other helpful information to assist you and your family in understanding the role of hockey in your player’s life. It’s an exciting time for Colorado hockey and we look forward to reaching out to you monthly and building a positive relationship to help grow the game across our state! Randy Kanai is in his first season as president of CAHA.
