Transition – early days and before
The ‘stretch’ of being in an environment where everyone is clever, or specialist subjects and learning them in depth, can be worrying.
Head of School, Malcolm Moaby, ensures that every Year 6 student is visited in his primary school by a member of our staff. Each family will get an induction pack, including FAQs, all the important dates in the induction process; and newsletters to get a ‘feel’ for the School. New students have induction days in the term before they start and will begin their very first term before other students, so they can easily find their feet.
At Gravesend Grammar School we use Key Stage 3 ‘specialist’ teachers in addition to all our other subject specialists. This means that every student should see one teacher for approximately 15% – 20% of the teaching time. This helps us to understand your son thoroughly and allows him to learn in real depth.
