Sport Council defers Afan Lido decision


Neath Port Talbot Council (NPTC) has deferred a deci- sion on the multi-million pound Afan Lido develop- ment, which will provide a new leisure complex for resi- dents in Aberavon. Te former Afan Lido was


destroyed by fire in late 2009 and under the current plans is to be replaced with an expan- sive complex designed by Holder Mathias Architects. A report put before NPTC

Saracens secures long-term agreement with Allianz


Saracens rugby union team has agreed a new long-term stadium and sponsorship deal with Allianz, the German financial services com- pany, worth a reported £8m. Te agreement will see Allianz become the club’s main sponsor, while its new stadium and


community sports hub being built in Hendon, London, will be renamed Allianz Park . Saracens chair Nigel Wray said: “We are now

BASIS announces new GSA partnership


BASIS (the British Association for Sustainable Sport) has announced the launch of a strategic partnership with the Green Sport Alliance (GSA). It follows a roundtable


session led by the two at the Beyond Sport Summit – held in London on 23-25 July – bringing together 50 interna- tional sports practitioners. Nearly 150 professional


and collegiate sports facili- ties from more than 18 leagues will come together in a bid to reduce ecological impact and to improve the performance of venues. More details will be released in due course,
