Getting Ready for Park(ing) Day PT
1. Read the “license” published at
www.parkingday.org. Understand that by participating you agree to its terms. Notice that the license gives you only the legal right to use the trademark “PARK(ing) Day”; it does not give the right to occupy a metered parking space! It is your responsibility to research the legal regulations in your area and, if necessary, contact the local authorities for permission. Obey the law and have fun.
2. Come back to the website in just a few weeks to grab the updated, free PARK(ing) Day Manual. It’s a portable, easy-to-download PDF that covers the basics and a little philosophy, and proceeds go to keep this website and the community network alive each year. Also check out the other resources that can help you mark your PARK.
3. Join the DIY Planning Network. It’s a social network designed
exclusively for PARK(ing) Day participants. Browse for a group in your city, or start your own and trade ideas for this year’s event.

ParkMe, Magnifis Partner to Add Hands-Free Technology to App
ParkMe (formerly Parking In Motion), which provides parking information to
navigation companies and smartphones, will partner with Magnifis to add its parking information to that company’s voice-based driver assistant application. Magnifis’ Android app, called Robin, is specifically designed to be the driver’s personal voice assistant. It aims to address the driver’s needs in a distraction-free manner, at a high level of contextual awareness and overall user experience, the company says. Besides real-time parking guidance, Robin can help the driver with traffic information, navigation, local search, up-to-date gas prices and “infotainment,” all via a voice/gesture interface, the company says.
“ParkMe’s renowned app and database of parking information, combined with
Magnifis’ capabilities, will provide our users with safe, hands-free information. It’s a fantastic use of our parking information,” ParkMe CEO Sam Friedman said. Magnifis CEO Ilya Eckstein said the app’s highlights are its simplicity and emphasis on safety. “The app can be activated by simply waving one’s hand over the phone, optimizing the experience of driving and searching.” (Sources: ParkMe, formerly Parking In Motion; Magnifis)
