Parking Industry Merger Signals Growth of National Parking Association – National Valet Parking Association to Merge with NPA
The National Parking Association (NPA) and the National
Valet Parking Association (NVPA) announced in June the intent to merge by the end of 2012. This move signals the continued growth and expansion of NPA, which has grown 30 percent in 18 months. NVPA members begin to receive NPA member benefits in July. The Boards of Directors of both organizations approved the plan to merge.

Organizations Plan to Unite at Year-End
The associations will operate as separate legal entities until
year-end. Ellis Dumont the President of NVPA will join the NPA Board of Directors and a Valet Council will be formed within NPA, consistent with NPA’s recent governance model change to form member, sector councils effective in October 2012.

Professional Development & Advocacy Resources for Valets Both organizations make an immediate move to serve
valet parking professionals with the 2012 Valet Olympics being hosted at NPA’s convention Oct. 15-18 at the Westin Diplomat, Hollywood, Florida. This year, NPA offers a valet convention track, sponsored by TICKETECH, as well as the valet peer network and valet roundtables—signaling a commitment to valet benefits.
Valet parking professionals will gain perks from NPA that include new programs such as a specialty in valet as part of the Certified Parking Professional program, a new audit training for valet parking professionals, as well as legislative alerts on employment and human resources issues important to valet companies. NVPA’s members will now gain access to NPA’s proprietary advocacy roadmaps for legislative action related to tax policy and government regulation.
