MELNA Golf Tourney Combats Hunger in Maine
Te Maine Landscape & Nursery Association held its’ first-ever
Golf Tournament on July 28, 2012 at Toddy Brook Golf Course in Cumberland. 28 golfers registered and had a great time on a beautiful course in great weather. Profits were split with half the profits going to Good Shepherd Food Bank, a state-wide ending hunger organization. MELNA presented Rev. Rick Small, CEO of Good Shepherd Food Bank, with a check for $775 at the end the day. Rev. Small said this donation will be leveraged to purchase food valued at 4 times that amount and would provide enough food to feed all the hungry in Maine for one day.
In addition to great day of golf to benefit a great charity, all golfers
were also treated to a great lunch that included fried chicken, corn-on-the-cob, salads and desserts. Te day was made possible by the generous support of hole sponsors Atlantic Pest Solutions Company, MB Bark, LLC, Prides Corner Farms, and the Robert Baker Companies; and luncheon sponsors Bob’s Trees, Kogut Nursery, Marcus Farms, McHutchison, and Van Essen Nursery.
Our thanks to Mark Faunce and Shai Levite for Co-Chairing this event!
