Jinga sells Gandu to Spain,North America Jinga Films has sold Indian rap musical Gandu to Raymond Murray’s Artsploitation for North America and to Underground Films for Spain. “Gandu is like no Indian film you’ve seen before,” said Jinga’s Rosana Coutinho.

BY GEOFFREYMACNAB Egyptian actor and film-maker Amr Waked, star of Salmon Fish- ing In The Yemen, has revealed that his Cairo-based production company Zad is co-producing Sheikh Vs Imam, a feature doc about singer Sheikh Imam that is directed by Ahmed Manawishi. “He sang against corruption


and fascism all over the world… During the days of the revolution, his songs were the ones predomi- nating in Tahrir Square,” Waked said of Sheikh Imam. Zad is also backing The Exile, a


new drama directed and written by Atef Hetata. Set in Luxor in the 1980s, it is about a French opera director who becomes involved with an Egyptian man. Waked co- stars as a policeman as well as pro- duces. Shooting is due to begin in
