AUNT SALLY’S KITCHEN New Family Run Cafe Now Open
ALLINGTON businesswoman Sandra Chadwick has decided to keep it local by setting up her own café in the Mid Kent Shopping Centre.
The opening of Aunt Sally’s, a family-run café that Sandra is managing with her husband, marks a return to her roots after a few years learning her craft. After studying catering at West Kent College, Sandra worked in a cafe in Maidstone town centre for four years. “I then started work at Waitrose in Allington, where I was cooking for the partners who work there,” recalled Sandra, who has two children, aged nine and four. “I'm Allington born and bred, so when the situation arose of two empty units at the Mid Kent shopping centre, I thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to carry out my dream of having my own cafe, especially as the location is so personal to me. “It has been a long haul to get here, but we're there now. We aim to offer good quality, locally sourced food, as well as a comfortable meeting place to catch up with friends and family with great customer
service, to complete the package.” Sandra believes customers like to know where their food comes from and is conscious to ensure the shop’s carbon footprint is low. Food and drink is sourced from Rickwoods of Bearstead, Barradale Eggs in Headcorn, Taywell Ice Cream in Paddock Wood, Winterdale cheese in Wrotham, Owlet Fruit Juices in Lamberhurst and Kent Crisps in Birchington.
Aunt Sally’s offers a full range of breakfasts, as well as light lunches, home cooked hot lunches, homemade cakes and much more.
