Junior Olympics, Adult Nationals return this summer T

he Anaheim Ducks have announced that The Rinks-Huntington Beach Inline will host the 2012 Inline Hockey Junior Olympics, presented by Reebok, from June 28-July 8.

In partnership with the Ama- teur Athletic Union (AAU), Team USA Hockey Club and USA Roll- ersports, the Ducks will also host the 2012 Inline Hockey Adult Nationals, presented by Reebok, at Huntington Beach Inline from June 29-July 1.

Registration is now open for both tournaments. “We’re excited to host the In- line Hockey Junior Olympics for

the third consecutive year at The Rinks-Huntington Beach Inline,” said Huntington Beach Inline general manger Ken Murchison. “Southern California has proven to be a great destination to host this tournament; it’s become bigger and better over the last two years and we’re expecting the same this time around.” The first Inline Hockey Junior Olympics at Huntington Beach In- line was in 2010 and marked the first time in tournament history the event was held west of the Missis- sippi River.

Over 3,000 athletes from eight

different countries are expected to travel to Southern California for the Junior Olympics and Adult Nationals this summer. Of the 350 expected teams, over 175 are California-based - more than any other single state or

country.

Participating countries in this year’s Ju- nior Olympics are expected to travel from China (Hong Kong), Great Britain, Australia, Canada, Columbia, Taiwan and New Zealand.

This year will mark the third consecutive that the Ju- nior Olympics will be on the West Coast and held at Hun- tington Beach Inline. The tournament has grown over each of the last two years, with 210 teams competing in 2010 and 254 in 2011. The Adult Nationals are

back for the second straight year and will in- clude divisions for all skills levels, including Bronze, Silver, Gold, Masters (35 and older) and Women’s. The Adult Nationals were created after seeing a demand from local adult teams, as well as parents traveling to Southern Cali- fornia with their kids for Junior Olym- pics who also wanted to compete in a tournament while in town.

The Adult Nationals provides a

showcase in which teams from all skill levels get to compete against local, na- tional and international squads.

“We look forward to welcoming athletes and their families from around the world to Orange County for these two great events,” Murchison added. Huntington Beach Inline, part of the Ducks’ The
