WITH WINTER FAST approaching, it has never been a better time to address your night time beauty routine and really rehydrate your skin. You are going to love these beauty gems I have found this month, and here’s some food for thought – did you know that your skin gets more dehydrated in winter than summer!
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DAY MOISTURISER AND A NIGHT CREAM?
You will notice that a night cream is heavier and thicker in texture because it is a lot richer with ingredients that are far too heavy to wear during the day under your makeup. Night creams may contain higher levels of active ingredients since they are specifically intended to be worn at night to minimise irritation from UV exposure. Do a good check of your ingredients list, as some ingredients such as retinol and retinyl acetate can react and irritate the skin if exposed to sunlight but are perfect for your nightly routine. As your body is resting, you are renewing your cells – your skin is a captive audience in receiving all the nutrients from the night cream. You have eight hours to absorb the intense ingredients and you will awaken with a renewed skin tone and texture.

LA MAV – VIT-C ADVANCED NIGHTLY REPAIR NECTAR This non-oily nectar is quite amazing with an immediate brightening effect and glow. It absorbed and penetrated deep into the skins cells where I felt it repaired my mature, tired and stressed skin, which is prone to age spots and pigmentation. The luscious scent was not overpowering but helped me drift off to sleep. In the morning my skin definitely looked more even in its tone and I was thrilled not to have any breakouts, as sometimes intense night products can affect my skin.

My little tip is to be very cautious around the eye area with night creams, as your eye area is some of the thinnest skin on your body and you don’t want to weigh that delicate area down with a heavy cream. So I suggest using a night eye cream or gel around this area. Day creams are generally a lot lighter and should contain an SPF that is obviously unnecessary at night. Your day cream will be softer and lighter and more quickly absorbed. Therefore you will have no problems in applying your makeup over the top of it.
AL’CHEMY – INTENSE MOISTURE VITAMIN MASQUE FOR THE HAIR I was looking for a salon treatment at home – so after applying the mask I wrapped my head in plastic to create some heat so the hair shaft would open and allow the product to penetrate deep into the hair. It was a great product to sleep in as it wasn’t oily or heavily scented. After rinsing out the excess in the morning I styled my hair as usual and it looked so glossy and fresh, no more flyaways and my hair colour had intensified.

A’KIN – REVITALISING EYE NIGHT CRÈME I tested just one eye to start and I was amazed to see an immediate result – the white of my eye appeared whiter and clearer and over time I experienced a great minimisation of fine lines.
