Highways carved through snow-mantled mountains, sparkling, crystal-clear lakes dot the landscape along with fertile farmlands, rolling ranchlands and deep, lush mountainous valleys. Famous for its incredible ski resorts, championship golf, natural hot springs and abundant wildlife. History plays an important part in the Kootenay Rockies – Fort Steele Heritage Town, Canadian Museum of Rail Travel in Cranbrook, the Sandon ghost town and the city of Nelson are just some of the many communities and sites to visit.


Hot Springs Circle Tour Around the world, hot mineral springs are considered to have magical healing qualities. Visit Radium Hot Springs, Fairmont Hot Springs, Ainsworth Hot Springs, Canyon Hot Springs, Halcyon Hot Springs, Nakusp Hot Springs and Lussier Hot Springs. There are spectacular views, woodland walks, hanging glaciers, hidden hot springs, sparkling lakes and outstanding resorts. The Hot Springs Circle Tour is approximately 800 km (500 miles) and usually takes between five and seven days. A secondary drive 232 km (145 miles) takes in Grand Forks, Castlegar, Rossland and Salmo.
