KINLOCH LODGE Isle of Skye
Kinloch Lodge is a special hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant in one of Scotland’s most beautiful, untouched locations on the Isle of Skye. A former 17th century hunting lodge, it was converted in 1972 into a hotel run by Lord Godfrey Macdonald and Lady Claire Macdonald.
Kinloch is a truly unique place in a magical setting, nestled at the foot of Kinloch Hill on the tranquil shoreline of the sea-loch Na Dal. In one direction you look out over the sea to the hills of Knoydart and in the other, across to the dramatic Cuillin mountain range. Kinloch Lodge is located in the south of Skye. The silence and natural beauty of this setting is mesmerising.
Kinloch is steeped in history and heritage. The founding principles of Kinloch as a haven of family hospitality and good food were laid down by Lord Macdonald, the eighth chief of the Clan Donald, together with his wife Lady Macdonald, the award-winning cook and food writer. They have run their Isle of Skye home, Kinloch Lodge, as a unique luxury hotel with blazing log fires and ancestral portraits for nearly 40 years.
Claire handed over the reins of her kitchen at Kinloch to her friend Marcello Tully who produces fabulous dishes combining the finest seasonal and local produce from Scotland’s wonderful natural larder.
The alcohol is taken every bit as seriously as the food. The quality of the menu is matched by a wine list that is recognised as one of the best in the UK with Michelin’s Red Grape award.
Fabulous massages, facials, salt scrubs and reflexology can all be offered within Kinloch’s treatment room.
