Day Three M ORNING /A FTERNOON


Jump on the Acorn Express for a guided tour at The Morton Arboretum, a breath-taking 1,700 acre garden of trees and other woody plants from around the world. Afterwards, both young and old will enjoy the hands-on learning activities of the Children’s Garden and finding your way through the Maze Garden to the scenic overlook.


If it’s not a day to be outside, there’s still plenty to do. Spend the day at one of our many indoor entertainment centers, like Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge, Brunswick Zone, Enchanted Castle Restaurant & Entertainment Complex, WhirlyBall, TopGolf or Safari Land, which features Illinois’ largest indoor roller coaster. Or spend the day splashing and sliding at Mayan Adventure Indoor Water Park.


E VENING Get transported back to the days of chivalry at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, where you will feast like royalty while cheering your brave knight to victory, or take in a first-run movie in the classic French Renaissance style Tivoli Theatre, built in the 1920s and restored with state-of- the-art cinematic features.


HISTORY & HERITAGE Tour Back in Time


Day One M ORNING Your first stop is the Graue Mill and Museum in Oak Brook. Adjacent to a scenic forest preserve and waterfall, Graue Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the only operating waterwheel gristmill in Illinois and features an Underground Railroad exhibit.


Just a few miles down the road is Mayslake Peabody Estate, where you will tour the Tudor Revival style mansion once owned by coal baron F.S. Peabody. Witness restoration in progress at this nationally registered historic building by renowned architect Benjamin H. Marshall.


A FTERNOON Next stop is the William L. Gregg House Museum, an 1872 Victorian home/museum in Westmont built by the brick maker himself, which displays collections typical of the 1920s through 1940s in authentic lifestyle settings.


Then, on to Naper Settlement–Outdoor History Museum, where history comes to life at this 12-acre museum village with 30 historic structures, including a Victorian mansion, fort, chapel, one-room schoolhouse and working blacksmith and print shops.


E VENING After dinner, take in some live entertainment, a concert or play at the historic Paramount Theatre & Copley Theatre, and enjoy the restored grandeur of its unique Venetian setting portrayed in the art deco influence of the 1930s.


Day Two M ORNING “All Aboard” as you begin your day viewing this exhibit at the West Chicago City Museum depicting early train depots and their role as community communication centers.


A FTERNOON After lunch, it’s off to the DuPage County Historical Museum in Wheaton to explore DuPage County’s rich history from the 1830s to the present or the DuPage Heritage Gallery where you will learn about famous DuPage citizens through memorabilia and photo panels located in a beautiful 3-story atrium.


E VENING Dine in style tonight overlooking the breath-taking rose gardens at Meson Sabika, a restaurant located in an 1847 Georgian-style mansion and featuring tapas, authentic dishes of Spain.


Day Three


M ORNING Stroll through the lovely Lilacia Park in the Village of Lombard before beginning your tour of the Victorian Cottage Museum which includes rooms furnished with artifacts exemplifying the lifestyle of the emerging middle- class during the 1870s.


Just a few short blocks away, visit the Sheldon Peck Homestead, an 1840s farmhouse that features reproductions of the artist’s folk paintings and exhibits on the first school, farming and pioneer life, and the Underground Railroad.


A FTERNOON Break for lunch in Elmhurst’s City Centre before the short walk over to the award- winning Elmhurst Historical Museum, featuring national touring exhibits and interpretive exhibits on the history of this vibrant Midwestern town. If there’s time, you may also want to travel a few short blocks to the unique museum campus at beautiful Wilder Park.
