NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION Citizen Advice Maidstone

Traditionally this is the time for most of us to make a New Year’s resolution.

At this difficult time for many in our community, Citizens Advice Maidstone has resolved to help more local people manage their affairs better. To do this, we are increasing the number of volunteer advisers to help even more people, putting on special events and information sessions, doing more to go out into the community to promote the work of the Bureau.

Maidstone Citizens Advice is a busy Bureau; during 2011 we helped over 35,000 people on a wide range of issues like benefits, debt, housing and employment.

This year is likely to be even busier as the recession bites harder. We are starting the year by holding two public sessions in January at the Maidstone Gateway in King Street in the Town Centre. You do not need to book for these events, just turn up!

Fuel Bills

On Friday 20th January we are holding a Big Energy event from 9.30 am to help people get the best deal with their fuel providers and let them know what support is available from advice agencies, charities, energy suppliers and the Government.

Money Health Check

On Tuesday 31st January from 9.30 am we are offering Maidstone Borough residents individual financial health checks. During the course of the day people will be able to speak to our specialist money advisers and get their professional advice in tackling any financial issues they may be concerned about.

Free Financial Training for 11-16 year olds

If you are involved with young people aged 11-16 and would like us to provide you with free training on basic finances, contact us and we will try to help.

If you are interested in attending either of these events please bring relevant paperwork and documents along with you so that our specialists can provide you with comprehensive advice and assistance.

We are keen to add to our team of committed volunteer advisers. If you are able to give us at least one day a week and willing to help others solve their problems, do get in touch with us. We will provide all the training you will need for this work.
