1. Attributed to Lucien Falize, this gold and enamel hinged bangle dated c.1890 will be offered at Woolley & Wallis’s jewellery sale on January 26 in Salisbury. Formed as separate panels and inscribed with the message Moult Aime Qui Attend (loosely translated as Patience is the mark of great love), it is estimated at £12,000- 15,000. 2. A series of letters by Mary Fletcher, the wife of 18th century Methodist theologian Rev John Fletcher, have come to light after they were bought in a WI jumble sale on the South Coast. The correspondence dates from the year of her husband’s death in 1785 and was written to her sister, Mrs Hill, in Liverpool. They will go under the hammer at Mullock’s auctioneers on January 24 at Ludlow Racecourse in Shropshire. Estimate £200-400. Contact 01694 771771 www.mullocksauctions.co.uk


3. Michael Bowman’s January 28 sale at Chudleigh Town Hall, Devon will include a collection of 25 pocket watches formed around 30 years ago. Stored in a bank vault since, the collection includes several gold minute repeaters and a musical

watch with a plain white enamel dial estimated at £3000-4000. Pictured here is a 2in (4.8cm) wide, gold, open-faced cylinder watch by Breguet (no. 25969). With a Lepine calibre movement, it was purchased at Sotheby’s in November 1979 at the dispersal of the watch collection of Ferdinand Lammot Belin and is estimated here at £1000-1500.
