BROOKLYN TECH TAKES


RIDGE! December 10th, 2011


December 10th you could find NYCUDL teams across two states! Most schools went up to the Bronx for our NYCUDL #3 at the East Bronx Academy. Brooklyn Tech not only sent their debaters to the Bronx but also sent their debaters to Ridge, New Jersey where they faced over hundred top debaters from across the Northeast. Brooklyn Tech Teams dominated both divisions and took 1st place in the Varsity Division!


AND!! Two


novice teams broke into the Novice Division and placed in the Quarterfinals and the Semifinals! So a huge congratulations to Brooklyn Tech which has quickly become one of the most dominant debate teams in the Northeast as well as one of the largest!


NYCUDL GOES UNDEFEATED IN THE CATHOLIC DEBATE


LEAGUE! December 6th, 2011


NYCUDL teams competed in Manhattan this weekend in the New York Catholic Forensics League at Regis High School against hundreds of the top debaters from Bronx Science, Stuyvesant, Horace Mann, and upstate schools like Newburgh Free Academy. We had not 1, not 2, but 3 teams that went undefeated!!! crushing teams from some of the top schools in the city. They tied with one other undefeated team from Stuyvesant, and were slightly edged out in total number of points and so we settled for 2nd place in the city for the Varsity Division, 2nd place in the city for the Novice Division as well as 2nd and 3rd place speaker awards! Congratulations to all our Great Debaters as well as all our volunteer judges who spent the entire Saturday debating Untied States space exploration and development!!!

SAVE YOUR SUMMER FOR DEBATE CAMP!


In the spring, students begin to apply for summer programs and make their summer plans! Do not forget about the NYCUDL Summer Debate Institute which takes place throughout August! Also, debaters interested in attending camps at universities should start researching now and apply soon! Nearly all the top colleges offer debate camps over the summer including Dartmouth, Michigan, Northwestern, Georgetown, Texas, Emory, Berkeley, Stanford, and this year for the first time in years, Harvard University offers policy debate in their Debate Camp.
