BENJAMIN BANNEKER TAKES FIFTH IN VARSITY AND TWO OF THE TOP TEN SPEAKER AWARDS! AND THEIR NOVICES GO VARSITY! WOW!

Ashanna also won 5th place overall best speaker! And in the Varsity Division, Jason Smith won 5th place overall best speaker!

representation at both the NYCUDL and at national invitationals! 

But they were not done yet!

At the NYCUDL #3 Tournament in December, Banneker’s team of Jason Smith & Jared Cato went 2-1 and took fifth place overall. Jason also took 6th place best speaker and his partner Jared took 8th place best speaker. What was also most impressive than all the other teams of the NYCUDL is that Banneker pushed their Novices to debate Varsity! That’s right! The team of Christina Mangroo and Arielle Floyd had been undefeated in the October NYCUDL tournament in the Novice Division and so they decided to challenge themselves in the Varsity division! They did an incredible job especially given the fact that most novices want to stay in the novice division for as long as possible! So a huge shout out to Christina and Arielle!

One week later, Benjamin Banneker was at it again!

In

the Novice Divsion, Ashanna Aytch & Aissatou Diallo went 2-1 to take 4th place overall!

So a fantastic shout out to Brooklyn Tech and their program for their

BROOKLYN TECH.... ONE SCHOOL! TWO CITIES! MULTIPLE VICTORIES!

On December 10th, Brooklyn Tech split their team to dominate two tournaments on Saturday. Brooklyn Tech sent a contingent of debaters to Ridge High School where they faced off against some of the best schools in the country! Simultaneously, they sent a continent of debaters to the NYCUDL #3 at the East Bronx Academy. And when I say contingent - I mean they sent more debaters than any other school despite being split in two! Brooklyn Tech teams dominated the novice division with eight different teams! Tiffany Tang led the Brooklyn Team by placing overall 2nd Place top speaker in the entire tournament and only .5 points from 1st Place! Tiffany and her teammate Dawod Rashid also took 2nd Place Top Team in the entire tournament!

The following weekend, Brooklyn Tech won ..... Brooklyn Tech! Brooklyn Tech hosted the Brooklyn Queens Catholic Forensics Tournament and won both the Novice and Varsity divisions! Alex Viner & Purti Pareek were the only team that went undefeated and placed 1st place overall in the tournament in the Varsity division. Tech repeated their performance in the Novice Division and Roberto Plummer & Isabella Divilova took 1st place and Bhavna Kumar & Cherin Oh took 2nd Place! 

Tech also took top

speaker awards! In the Novice Division, Bhavna Kumar took 1st place overall and Roberto Plummer took 2nd place overall! And in the Varsity divsiion, Purti Pareek won 2nd place overall! 

Brooklyn Tech

accomplished all this in a very competitive field of schools including elite schools like Beacon and private schools like Bishop Loughlin. 

So once again,

congratulations to the Brooklyn Tech Great Debaters!
