Welcome to the Rally of the Tall Pines
The 2011 edition marks the 41st consecutive year for one of Canada’s biggest national rallies On behalf of the Maple Leaf
Rally Club and our sponsors, I wel- come you to the 2011 Rally of the Tall Pines. We are pleased that the Town of Bancroft is our Host Sponsor again this year. We always enjoy the friendly hospitality and wide range of services that Ban- croft has to offer.
2011 is the 41st consecutive run- ning of the Rally of the Tall Pines and, as in previous years, we have worked extensively with our part- ners to bring the competitors a great rally on great roads in a won- derful part of Ontario. Once again, we have built on our
strengths with only slight changes to this year’s format. With the event taking place one week later than last year, we hope to return to the Pines tradition of “Winter roads and Summer ditches”. Expect to see great competition on these incredible stages. Besides providing a wide variety of poten- tial road conditions, our route also provides teams with serious techni- cal challenges. Competitors will ex- perience a compact route and schedule over one long day. Although some positions in the Canadian Rally Championship have already been settled, there are still a number of classes that will be decided at the Rally of the Tall Pines – the final round of the 2011
WELCOME TO BANCROFT
We’d like to welcome and con- gratulate the organizers, partici- pants and spectators to the 2011 Rally of the Tall Pines. We believe that the chosen course offers the best opportunities for drivers and spectators to experience this na- tional event. Bancroft offers four-season out- door activities showcasing our
Canadian Rally Championship. Antoine L’Estage has already se-
cured the Overall title in his Mit- subishi with Subaru drivers Pat Richard and “Crazy” Leo Urlichich in second and third. Te Overall Co-Driver title has been secured by Nathalie Richard, second and third is still up for grabs at Tall Pines. Martin Brady, Urlichich’s co-driver, is second, but Pat Richard’s former co-driver Leanne Junnila is third, just nine points behind Martin. Te Two-Wheel Drive Driver and Co-Driver Championships went to Jan and Jody Zedril. Te battle at Tall Pines for second and third in class is a tight one featuring Eric Grochowksi, Simon Dube and Jeffrey Dowell. Second and third in the co-dri-
ver’s championship will also be de- cided in Bancroft. Te Group 2 Driver Champi-
onship is tied at 18 points each for Simon Dube and Eric Grochowski. Te Group 2 Co-Driver’s Champi- onship will be a big battle at Tall Pines with Leanne Junnila, Pat Lavigne, Pat Levesque and Keith Morrison all tied for first with nine points each. Te Production GT Driver and
Co-Driver titles will be decided at Tall Pines. Warren Haywood sits atop the driver’s standings with 24
natural resources – land, water, snow and ice. While you are in Bancroft, please take the time to explore our stores and restaurants. We can provide most services and would like to meet you and make your visit more pleasurable. Please return to enjoy all four seasons and experience the wealth of talent throughout our creative community. •

points. Nicholas Rochon-Ouellette leads the co-driver battle with 18. Te top three Novice positions
are tight with quite a few teams at the top and only a few points sepa- rating them. Te coveted Manufacturer Championship, which Mitsubishi currently leads, will also be decided, but Subaru isn’t far behind. Te Rally of the Tall Pines is an excellent event for the discerning rally aficionado and for newcomers to the sport as well. We have two great spectator
stages; Ironbridge where the cars pass three times during the day and Golton, sponsored by Tim Hortons, Bancroft, which is run twice after dark. We have a single service area at Dungannon and we have the great facilities offered by the Town of Bancroft. Te Tall Pines has a well estab-
lished VIP Program which offers guests comfortable, warm coaches, private viewing tents, lunch, a gour- met dinner, some Tall Pines goodies and the opportunity to rub shoul- ders with experienced rallyists. We will have our Rally of the
Tall Pines merchandise on sale at Rally HQ at the Dungannon Recreation Centre and at both our Spectator Stages, so please stop by and take home a T-shirt, toque or hooded sweatshirt. Tey are all a
great value. Te Rally of the Tall Pines was the first national stage rally in Canada to offer an award for the highest placed hybrid car. Tis year, we will continue to give awards to hybrids and to clean diesels. We support Bancroft’s tree planting program, so there can be more “tall pines” in the future. We also use compostable products where possible and we encourage our suppliers, competitors and spec- tators to do the same. We continue to be grateful to the
Town of Bancroft, the Townships of Wollaston, Limerick, Tudor and Cashel, the Municipality of Marmora and Deer Lake and the Ministry of Natural Resources for their permission to use their roads. We would also like to thank the
Watters family, the Golton family, the Tait family and L’Amable Pub- lic Storage for allowing us the use of their own property for portions of the event. Additionally, we would like to extend a big thank you to all the volunteer workers who make the Rally of the Tall Pines the special event that it has become. I hope you will enjoy our unique and challenging rally. •
