Lightning promotes Cocean Alexandra Cocean, previously director of international sales at Lightning Entertainment, has been promoted to VP of international sales with immediate effect. In her expanded role, Cocean will handle sales for Asia, Eastern Europe, CIS, Turkey, Greece, Australia/NZ and Africa.


Webber bows to Emperor Peter Webber will direct the epic Second World War story Emperor, now in pre-production, for Fellers Film and Krasnoff/ Foster Entertainment. Production is scheduled for January in New Zealand and Japan. CAA is handling US sales.


Freestyle launches VoD arm Freestyle Digital Media is launching its new digital distribution, cable and service provider VoD platform at the AFM. Susan Jackson, co-founder of Freestyle Releasing, will oversee the new company, which is also offering DVD specialised distribution.

Ron Howard came by the AFM yesterday to meet with buyers about his film Rush, being sold by Exclusive Media. Alongside Exclusive co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East, and Cross Creek’s Brian Oliver, Howard held meetings about the film, which explores the Formula 1 rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda. Universal will release in the US in 2012.
