same town centre gym. In one incident, a mobile phone and credit cards were stolen from locker rooms at TryGym in The Broadway. The following day, a wallet containing cash and a driving licence were stolen from the changing rooms. IT was reported that satnavs had been directing HGVs along South Street. Lorry drivers had then been forced to reverse out of the road. It was suggested that amended signs saying No Through Road might help but Kent Highways had said the ex- isting signage was adequate. KHS would be contacted again to discuss altering the signs. The clerk reported on prob-
lems in obtaining a quote for the removal of asbestos from the parish hall electrical cupboard. As the electricity supplier had used asbestos to mount the meter, itwas suggested that it be asked to remove it. Ameeting at the hallwould be arranged with EDF Energy. A resident had requested yel-
low lines near the top of South Street following an incident when a fire engine was unable to get through. Councillors were unable to support this request, given the limited success else- where in the village. It was also noted that it would dislodge
parking along the road. Residents were advised to be
aware of anyone approaching vehicles at the Fountain Lane traffic lights following a recent incident when a couple had got into a vehicle at the lights and demanded to be driven into Maidstone town centre. It was reported that Barming

A rogue trader had been op- erating in the borough and resi- dents were advised to obtain at least three quotes for work.
