The awards competition was designed to bring young producers together so they can communicate, help develop their skills and form a community of young artists, said Craig Santoro, director of media instruction at Hamilton Commons. “The success of the awards competition far exceeded our expectations,” he said. “The quality of the work submitted was well beyond anything we hoped to see. It was really great to be able to honor these young people for their hard work and talent.” Hamilton Commons offers high school students opportuni- ties to learn multimedia production skills through WHYY’s Afterschool Program, Young Journalists Summer Camp and The WHYY Film Academy.
