passion.My father gavememy first 35mm camerawhen I started graduate school, pursuing amaster’s degree in dance. Excited and anxious to learn about photography, I enrolled in a class.One of the first assignmentswas using shutter speed to stop action and blurmotion in an image. Since Iwas a dancer, photo- graphing other dancerswas a natural choice. I persuadedmy friend, dancer Jane ChalkDavis, to be the subject of those assignments. Jane danced, I clicked andmagic happened. Capturing those dancing images determinedmy future in the danceworld. Eventually,
