RLC Earns Prestigious HAI Safety Award

"RLC (Rotorcraft Leasing

Company), the largest privately- held helicopter operator in the Gulf of Mexico, recently announced it has earned the Helicopter Association International’s (HAI) 2010 Operator Safety Award. This cov- eted honor is bestowed upon hel- icopter operators who operated without accident in the previous year. HAI acknowledged RLC for its outstanding 2010 safety record of 72,000+ accident-free flight hours. “This award reflects our safe- ty-first commitment to employ industry-leading safety, training and maintenance programs to ensure the well-being of our cus- tomers,” said Larry Adams, Chief Operating Officer of RLC. “I applaud our employees and their steadfast commitment to safety. Without them, this achievement would not have been possible,” Adams added.

“RLC can take great pride in the fact that they have met the requirements for this award,” said Matthew Zuccaro, president of HAI. “RLC’s dedication to reducing accident risk and upholding the highest safety standards reflects well on their organization, as well as the entire international helicopter communi- ty,” Zuccaro said. ◆

HAI & Aviation Industry Oppose $100 Obama Aviation Tax

HAI President Matt Zuccaro joined a multitude of leaders from aviation trade associations in co- signing letters this week to the U.S. Congress, expressing strong opposition to the proposed $100 tax on the aviation industry as part of President Obama's deficit reduction plan.

Important contributions from our industry help support the recoverying U.S. economy. Taxes disguised as fees will further undermine economic recovery and will not produce more jobs in the helicopter industry. Click on the following links to read copies of the letters to Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate majority leader,Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

All HAI members are strongly

encouraged to weigh in with their elected House and Senate mem- bers of Congress in Washington to remind them of aviation's important role and the need to preserve and grow a healthy avi- ation industry while protecting helicopter jobs.
