Coxheath pupils ‘love their lessons’
PUPILS, staff and governors at Coxheath Primary School have welcomed the find- ings from their recent Ofsted inspection, which highlighted significant improve- ments. The school was praised for its progress
since the last visit three years ago, and for its good capacity to make sustained im- provements in the future. Head teacher Caroline Robinson said:
“This report is a real tribute to all the hard work by everybody, particularly as the in- spection was at the end of a busy academic year. “It shows the staff are fully committed to supporting the children in their care.” The effectiveness of leadership and man- agement, the school’s engagement with par- ents and the curriculum at the school were all given good reviews by Ofsted. There was also particular praise for the
care, guidance and support given to pupils, their spiritual, moral and social develop- ment and their behaviour. Attendance was identified as outstanding. All aspects of the Early Years Foundation
stage were judged to be good and children were seen to thor- oughly enjoy their time in re- ception and make a very positive start at the school. The report said: “The school’s
ethos is one where every child is valued and cared for. To this end, the school endeavours to provide every pupil with the op- portunity to do their best, ensur- ing that equality of opportunity is actively promoted.” Pupils told the inspectors they
“love everything about their les- sons”. To improve still further, the school, which was rated satis- factory overall, was asked to accelerate pupils’ progress, especially in writing. It should also give pupils more help in gaug- ing their own progress. Chairman of governors Kim Owen said:
“The school has worked hard since the last inspection and the improvements are clear to see in the Ofsted report.

staff and with their level of dedication. I have no doubt the progress will continue.”

Thanks went to Mark Pritchard from MVCP for overseeing the picking, leading the walk and for collecting and taking the apples for processing. The parish also thanked Robert Body for lending a man and a machine to lift the large bags of apples onto a trailer.
